This is why, in D&D 3.5e, half-dryads are a playable race instead of dryads. This 3rd-party Pathfinder race of half-dryads might also be good inspiration. Alraunes might be a cool addition. They're similar to dryads thematically, but only to the same extent that, say, dragonborn and lizardfolk are similar to each other.

As a 24 hour ritual, a Dryad can cast this spell on a nut, fruit, or seed from her bonded tree. So long as you keep this item on your person, whenever you sleep you are considered to be inside your bonded tree. This allows you to travel long distances without dying of starvation. Your tree can communicate empathically with you through this item.

As an action, they can play their charming bagpipes, allowing all charming abilities and spells used in a 60ft. radius to have a +3 to their DC (for example, the Dryads' fey charm requires a DC14+3 = DC17 save to succeed while this music sounds). Playing the bagpipes requires concentration, and has a duration of 10 minutes.

Dryads A Complete Guide to the Nymphs of the Trees (2023)

Oreads were fey creatures intrinsically linked to mountains, much like how dryads were to trees and fossergrim were to waterfalls. Much like dryads, all oreads had the appearance of lithe, strong and stern humanoid women. Their skin tone and builds reflected the rocks upon whatever the mountain they protected. For example, some were more soft and curvaceous with tawny skin, reflecting.

First the GM adds to the PCs ability scores (+2 to Strength and +4 to Charisma) and gives the PC a bit of natural armor (+2). Using the design factors so far, the PC has a CR increase of +0.8. The GM bumps this to an even +1.0 by adding an Alternate Form (wolf, +0.2) to the character.

COMBAT Shy, intelligent, and resolute, dryads are as elusive as they are alluring—they avoid physical combat and are rarely seen unless they wish to be. If threatened, or in need of an ally, a dryad uses charm person or suggestion, attempting to gain control of the attacker (s) who could help the most against the rest.

"If the tree is ever destroyed, the dryad descends into madness." Both from the dryad entry. What we homebrew: Every day a dryad goes without being bound to a tree, a dryad must make a Concentration check, DC 15. If they fail, their WIS score declines by one. They can counter any failure by burning a Hit Dice (permanently - see #3 below).

Re: Playing a Dryad. Or you could make it a 6-7 level progression monster class, as per Savage species. If you make it 6th level, just remember to keep two dead levels that doesn't give BAB, HD, saves and skills, but still advance their natural abilities. Probably at 3rd and 5th level.
